Promoting Gender equity and empowering women including facilitating women’s access to justice, is a means to reducing inequalities and enhancing economic growth thereby expediting sustainable development. This resonates clearly with the UN Agenda 2030 which was adopted in 2015 which aims at promoting sustainable development by ensuring the involvement of all persons at all sectors in shaping the development process hence re-emphasizing the notion of “leaving nobody behind”.
The Justice for All Programme (JFAP) is a State led intervention, established in 2007 to alleviate prison overcrowding by setting up Mobile In-prison Special Courts to adjudicate remand/Pre-trial prisoner cases throughout the country. This initiative enjoys the collective efforts of the Judicial Service of Ghana, the Office of the Attorney-General, the Ghana Prisons and Police Service, CHRAJ as well as POS Foundation (Civil Society body that serve as facilitators).
