For two decades, POS Foundation has been at the forefront of human rights advocacy, justice reform, and community empowerment. As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on the progress made and look ahead to shaping a more just and inclusive society.

About Us  

Established in 2025, POS is a leading Human Rights Civil Society Organization in Ghana that focuses its activities in the areas of Human Rights Advocacy, Access to Justice, Law/Policy Reforms, Youth Development, Gender and Inclusion, Cross-border Trade, Research and Social Accountability.

Our Achievements (Key Milestones Over 20 Years)

Over the past two decades, POS Foundation has been a catalyst for significant reforms in Ghana’s justice system and beyond.

Legislative Influence

Drafted Ghana’s first Community Sentencing Bill CI-Parole and contributed to the passage of narcotic control. commission act (Act 1019) Drug Policy Reforms.

West Africa Advocacy

Supported cross-border trade across 6 West African countries by training paralegals at the border to help women. Under the rule of law and the use of technology for trade liberalization

JFAP10th Anniversary

The President of Ghana, the Chief Justice, and other diplomates honored the POS Foundation for its outstanding efforts in advancing the Justice for All Programme (JFAP). In reducing Ghana’s remand prisoner population from 33% (2007) to 10.8% (2024).

Global Recognition

Featured and honored at UN UPR, Paris Peace Forum, and World Justice Forum.

Prison Reform

Rehabilitation and Reintegration - POS  established formally Incarcerated Persons Network (FIPN) and offers Skill development 

In-Prison Courts

Established prison courts at Nsawam, Kumasi, and Tamale Prisons.

Our Impact (Programs & Initiatives)

POS Foundation is driving change through key initiatives that address systemic issues in the justice system and human rights landscape.

In-Prison Paralegal Programme (IPP)

Empowering inmates by training them as paralegals, enabling them to assist fellow prisoners in appealing cases and understanding their rights.

Community Sentencing Bill

Advocating for the adoption of non-custodial sentencing for minor offenses, reducing prison overcrowding, and promoting community-based rehabilitation.

Justice for All Programme (JFAP)

POS Foundation Facilitators of the state-led intervention providing in-prison mobile court sittings to decongest prisons by ensuring fair trials for remand prisoners.

Women & Youth Empowerment

Driving economic and legal empowerment initiatives to support gender equality, youth leadership, and financial inclusion.

Cross-Border Trade & Rule of Law

Supporting small-scale traders across West Africa by providing legal assistance and advocating for inclusive trade policies.
